Detailed description
Layer 3 Professional Switch
The Ubiquiti UniFi Switch Pro Max 24 PoE is an enterprise-class Layer 3 switch designed for environments that demand high port density, multi-gigabit speeds, and extreme PoE capacity. With a total of 24 Ethernet ports and 2 high-speed SFP+ uplinks, this switch is engineered to power and connect modern network infrastructures from a single rack-mounted device. The port layout is optimized for mixed workloads. It includes 16 × 1 GbE RJ45 ports, of which 8 support PoE+ and 8 support PoE++, as well as 8 × 2.5 GbE RJ45 ports, all capable of PoE++ output. This makes the switch ideal for powering Wi-Fi 6/6E access points, IP cameras, VoIP phones, access control systems, and AV-over-IP devices without external injectors. Two 10G SFP+ ports provide high-bandwidth uplinks for aggregation or core switching.
Power delivery is a standout feature. The switch offers a total PoE budget of 400W, supporting PoE (15.4W), PoE+ (32W), and PoE++ (up to 64W per port). This allows simultaneous operation of multiple high-power devices while maintaining stable performance. For business-critical deployments, DC power redundancy via USP RPS ensures continued operation during AC power failure. Designed in a 1U rack-mount form factor, the enclosure is built from SGCC steel for durability and long-term reliability. The front panel features a 1.3-inch touchscreen LCM display for real-time system status, while Etherlighting™ provides visual port identification for both Ethernet and SFP+ interfaces, simplifying installation and troubleshooting in dense racks.

Non-Blocking Performance
At the core of the UniFi Switch Pro Max 24 PoE is a high-performance switching architecture built to handle demanding enterprise traffic without compromise. The switch delivers an impressive 112 Gbps switching capacity with 56 Gbps of total non-blocking throughput, ensuring that all ports can operate at full speed simultaneously. With a forwarding rate of 83 million packets per second, latency remains minimal even under heavy load. The switch supports up to 1,000 VLANs, enabling precise traffic segmentation for security, performance, and organizational control. A MAC address table size of 16,000 entries allows the switch to efficiently manage large device populations, while a 1.5 MB packet buffer helps absorb traffic bursts and prevent packet loss in congested scenarios.
Layer 3 functionality is integrated directly into the switch, reducing the need for external routing hardware in local networks. Supported features include a DHCP server for local networks, DHCP relay, inter-VLAN routing, and static routing, making the switch suitable for distributed enterprise and campus deployments. Advanced traffic control and security are handled through extensive Layer 2 and Layer 3 access control lists, including IPv4 ACLs (128 entries) and MAC-based ACLs (128 entries). The ARP table capacity of 6,000 entries supports large routed environments with stable address resolution. For optimized media and real-time traffic, the switch includes QoS with DSCP support and a full set of Pro AV profiles, covering technologies such as Dante, NDI, SDVoE, Q-SYS, AES67, and Crestron. These profiles ensure predictable performance for audio-video workloads without manual tuning, making the switch an excellent choice for corporate AV, broadcast, and event networks.

Designed for Long-Term Operation
The UniFi Switch Pro Max 24 PoE integrates seamlessly into the UniFi Network application (version 8.0.24 and later), offering centralized management, monitoring, and configuration. Administrators can manage the switch via Ethernet or AR, with full visibility into port status, power usage, traffic patterns, and device topology. A comprehensive suite of Layer 2 control and security features ensures stable and protected network operation. These include LACP port aggregation, STP and RSTP, IGMP snooping with advanced querier and fast-leave options, 802.1X authentication, DHCP snooping and guarding, MAC-based port restrictions, device isolation, storm control, and broadcast and multicast rate limiting. Features such as port mirroring, jumbo frames, LLDP-MED, voice VLAN, loop protection, and virtual network override provide flexibility for complex enterprise designs.
From a hardware perspective, the switch is designed for continuous operation in professional environments. It uses an internal 550W AC/DC power supply, supports 100–240V AC input, and consumes up to 50W excluding PoE output. Heat dissipation is rated at 119 BTU/hr, ensuring efficient thermal management. The switch operates reliably in temperatures from -5 to 40°C and humidity levels of 10–90% non-condensing. The rack-mount system supports rack depths from 400 to 1200 mm, making it compatible with most standard cabinets. The device is NDAA compliant and certified to CE, FCC, IC, and Anatel standards, ensuring suitability for regulated and government-aligned deployments.
