Smart 5G Connectivity
The Teltonika RUT276 RedCap 5G router is a next-generation connectivity solution designed to bring the most valuable advantages of 5G technology into industrial and IoT deployments, without the cost and complexity of full-scale 5G hardware. Built on RedCap (Reduced Capability) architecture, this device is optimized for applications that require higher throughput and lower latency than 4G, while maintaining efficiency and affordability. It achieves download speeds of up to 223 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 123 Mbps on 5G Sub-6GHz standalone networks, ensuring fast and responsive data transmission for modern connected systems. To guarantee operational continuity across different network environments, the router also supports 4G LTE Cat 4 fallback, delivering up to 195 Mbps download and 105 Mbps upload speeds when 5G is unavailable. Additionally, the integrated dual SIM functionality with automatic failover provides uninterrupted connectivity by seamlessly switching between operators in case of signal loss or network degradation.
The RUT276 also offers versatile wireless connectivity with IEEE 802.11b/g/n (Wi-Fi 4), supporting multiple operating modes including Access Point (AP), Client (STA), Mesh (802.11s), and Multi-AP. These modes enable flexible deployment scenarios, from standalone units to distributed wireless infrastructures. Advanced wireless optimization technologies such as fast roaming (802.11r), radio resource measurement (802.11k), and BSS transition management (802.11v) ensure stable performance in dynamic environments with moving clients. With support for up to 50 simultaneous wireless connections, along with features like client isolation, SSID hiding, and MAC-based access control, the RUT276 delivers both scalability and control—making it an ideal choice for professional IoT and industrial networking applications.
Seamless Integration
The Teltonika RUT276 is specifically engineered to serve as a reliable communication backbone in industrial and machine-to-machine (M2M) environments, where interoperability and protocol compatibility are critical. A key advantage of this router is its integrated RS232 and RS485 serial interfaces, enabling direct communication with a wide range of industrial equipment such as PLCs, sensors, SCADA systems, and legacy machinery. The RS485 interface operates in half-duplex (2-wire) mode, ensuring efficient data exchange in typical industrial bus configurations. These serial interfaces support a comprehensive set of operational modes, including Serial over IP, which allows legacy serial devices to be accessed over modern IP networks. Additional functionality includes MODBUS gateway capabilities for industrial automation, console access for device management, modem emulation, and NTRIP client support for precision positioning applications.
Network configuration and management are flexible, with support for both port-based and tag-based VLANs, allowing secure and clear separation of network traffic. The integrated DHCP server supports static and dynamic IP allocation, relay functionality, and advanced lease management with wildcard MAC addressing. Administrators can fully control device ports by monitoring their status, adjusting transmission parameters, and enabling or disabling interfaces as needed. Security is strengthened by a powerful zone-based firewall that supports IPv4 and IPv6, monitors active connections, filters traffic based on defined rules, and allows DMZ setup. Authentication options include pre-shared keys, X.509 digital certificates, TACACS+, and both internal and external RADIUS servers, ensuring enterprise-grade access control. OpenVPN allows multiple clients and a server to run at the same time with up to 27 encryption options, while QoS and Smart Queue Management help prioritize important data traffic.
Rugged Design
The RUT276 is built to operate reliably in demanding industrial environments, combining a compact form factor with a rugged aluminium enclosure that ensures durability, heat dissipation, and resistance to mechanical stress. Its design supports multiple mounting options, including DIN rail, wall mounting, and flat surface installation. The router is engineered for stable operation under varying power conditions, supporting a wide input voltage range of 9 to 57 VDC. Integrated protection mechanisms include reverse polarity protection and surge protection exceeding 58V (10 µs), safeguarding the device against electrical anomalies. In addition to a standard 2-pin industrial DC connector, the RUT276 supports both active PoE (802.3af Class 0) via the LAN port and passive PoE (16–57 VDC).
Despite its advanced capabilities, the device is highly energy-efficient, consuming less than 2 W in idle mode and under 3.5 W at peak load, making it suitable for energy-conscious deployments. Internally, the router is powered by a Mediatek 580 MHz MIPS 24KEc CPU, paired with 128 MB DDR2 RAM and 32 MB SPI flash storage, ensuring stable and responsive system performance. Running on RutOS, an OpenWrt-based Linux operating system, the RUT276 offers extensive configuration and customization options. Management is available through a Web UI (HTTP/HTTPS), command-line interface (CLI), and remote firmware updates via FOTA, including automated update notifications. Expandability is supported via a Micro SD card slot (up to 2 TB), enabling storage expansion, file sharing (Samba), and DLNA services.
