Teltonika RUTM20 Ultra-Compact 5G Router

The Teltonika RUTM20 is an ultra-compact 5G router engineered to deliver high-speed connectivity for modern IoT and IIoT deployments. Powered by a global Telit 5G modem, it supports both SA and NSA 5G architectures, providing download speeds up to 3.4 Gbps and uplink speeds up to 900 Mbps. For broader compatibility, the device also supports LTE Cat 19 and 3G fallback, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity across diverse network environments. To maximize reliability, the router features dual SIM slots alongside an integrated eSIM, enabling automatic failover and dynamic switching between carriers. Switching can be triggered by various conditions such as signal loss, data limits, roaming, or network unavailability. The eSIM supports up to seven profiles, allowing centralized and remote operator management without requiring physical access to the device.

Advanced mobile monitoring tools provide real-time insights into connection quality, including RSSI, RSRP, SINR, and other parameters. Features such as band locking, multiple PDN support, and operator control lists allow precise optimization of network performance. Additional capabilities include SMS and USSD support, enabling remote control, alerts, and automation workflows. With these features, the RUTM20 is ideal for mission-critical applications such as transport systems, surveillance infrastructure, smart city deployments, and point-of-sale systems where stable and fast connectivity is essential.

The RUTM20 delivers enterprise-grade networking capabilities in a compact form factor. It supports both static and dynamic routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF v2, RIP, EIGRP, and NHRP, enabling seamless integration into complex network architectures. Policy-based routing allows precise traffic management across multiple network paths. Wireless connectivity is powered by dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac Wave 2), delivering speeds up to 867 Mbps with MU-MIMO support. The router can handle up to 150 simultaneous wireless connections, making it suitable for high-density environments. Advanced features such as Mesh networking (802.11s), Fast Roaming (802.11r), and radio resource management (802.11k/v) ensure stable wireless performance across dynamic deployments.

Network segmentation is enabled through VLAN support, allowing separation of traffic across different services or devices. QoS and Smart Queue Management provide prioritization of critical traffic, ensuring reliable performance for latency-sensitive applications. Security features include a configurable firewall with NAT, DMZ, and custom rules, as well as protection against DDoS attacks and port scanning. Authentication options include WPA3, X.509 certificates, TACACS+, and RADIUS. The device also features a TPM 2.0 module for enhanced hardware-level security. VPN support includes OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, ZeroTier, and more, enabling secure remote access and encrypted communication. Additional capabilities such as DNS over HTTPS, hotspot functionality, and load balancing further enhance network security and flexibility.

The RUTM20 is designed for space-constrained deployments, featuring a compact anodized aluminium enclosure measuring just 100 × 30 × 93.7 mm and weighing 319 g. Despite its small size, it offers industrial-grade durability with IP30 protection and an operating temperature range from -40 °C to +75 °C, making it suitable for harsh environments. The router includes two Gigabit Ethernet ports (WAN and LAN) and multiple antenna connectors (4 × SMA for mobile and 2 × RP-SMA for Wi-Fi). It also features a USB interface for additional connectivity options and supports digital input/output for industrial control applications.

A key advantage of the RUTM20 is its Active PoE capability, supporting both PoE input and output (802.3af/at standards). This allows the device to both receive power and power other devices, simplifying installation and reducing cabling requirements. Power can also be supplied via a 4-pin industrial connector (9–50 VDC) with built-in protection. The router runs on RutOS, an OpenWrt-based operating system with support for customization and development. Remote management is enabled through RMS, WebUI, SNMP, MQTT, and TR-069, along with FOTA updates and detailed monitoring tools. This combination of compact design, advanced power options, and robust management features makes the RUTM20 an ideal solution for modern industrial and IoT deployments.
