5G RedCap Gateway
The Ubiquiti U5G is a compact cellular gateway designed to provide 5G RedCap and LTE connectivity through a wired Ethernet interface. It includes one GbE RJ45 port and supports management over Ethernet, making it suitable for installations where cellular access needs to be connected into a network through a standard Ethernet link. The device supports both a Nano SIM and an eSIM, giving installers two available SIM options for cellular service provisioning. For 5G connectivity, the device uses the 5G RedCap category and supports the n1, n3, n5, n7, n8, n20, n26, n28, n40, n41, n77, and n78 bands.
This frequency support allows the device to operate across a wide set of 5G NR band allocations, depending on the network and region where it is deployed. The 5G NR transmit power is specified at up to 23 dBm. The device also supports LTE operation across multiple 4G bands, including B1, B3, B5, B7, B8, B18, B19, B20, B26, B28, B38, B40, B41, B42, and B43. LTE transmit power is supported with HPUE power class 2 at 26 dBm. Together, the 5G RedCap and LTE capabilities allow the U5G to serve as a cellular access device within supported mobile network environments.
Cellular Performance
The U5G is built to deliver mobile data connectivity through its supported 5G SA and 4G LTE modes. In 5G SA operation, it supports peak data speeds of up to 220 Mbps downlink and 120 Mbps uplink. For 4G LTE, the listed peak data speed is up to 195 Mbps downlink and 100 Mbps uplink, with the same values specified for LTE throughput speed. These values help clarify the expected performance class of the device and show the difference between its 5G SA and LTE operating modes. Two embedded omni-directional cellular antennas are integrated into the device. This internal antenna design keeps the unit compact and self-contained, without requiring external antenna connections for the listed cellular operation.
Since the antennas are omni-directional, the device is designed to receive and transmit cellular signals without being aimed like a directional antenna, which can simplify placement in supported installation positions. The U5G includes a 1.14" status display, giving users a local visual reference directly on the device. A factory reset button is also available for maintenance or recovery when needed. The product is powered through PoE and includes one PoE input, allowing power to be supplied over the network cabling instead of using a separate local power adapter. This supports cleaner deployment where Ethernet cabling is already planned for the installation.
Mounting Options
The U5G is designed for flexible placement and includes mounting options for desktop, wall, and window installation. Measuring 200 × 38 × 20.2 mm and weighing only 122 g, the U5G is easy to position in locations where larger networking equipment would be impractical. The included desktop stand, wall mount, and window mount provide flexible installation options for different deployment scenarios. The enclosure is made from polycarbonate and aluminum alloy, while the mounting components use galvanized steel and silicone rubber.
This material combination supports a practical installation design across the included placement options. The device is intended for operation in ambient temperatures from 0 to 40 °C and in 5 to 95% noncondensing humidity, making it suitable for controlled installation environments that remain within these limits. Software compatibility is handled through UniFi Network version 10.4.57 and later. Mobile management is supported through UniFi iOS version 10.35.0 and later, as well as UniFi Android version 10.38.2 and later. The product carries CE certification, supporting use in environments where this certification is required.
