Indoor 5G Router
The Zyxel Nebula FWA515 is a 5G BE7200 indoor router designed to provide cellular broadband and high-capacity wireless access for remote teams, retail locations, branch offices, prosumer studios, and home or small-business environments. It supports 5G NR in both standalone and non-standalone modes, with theoretical download rates reaching 7.01 Gbps in SA operation and 5.67 Gbps in NSA operation. Where 5G is unavailable or unsuitable, the router can also connect over 4G LTE, with theoretical download speeds up to 1.6 Gbps. These cellular capabilities allow the device to serve as a primary Internet connection or as an alternative path alongside fixed broadband services.
Local wireless access is provided through dual-band WiFi 7 on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, operating concurrently with a 4×4 + 4×4 MIMO design. The BE7200 class delivers a combined theoretical link rate of up to 7,200 Mbps and supports Multi-Link Operation for coordinated use of available wireless links. Up to 64 WiFi-enabled devices can connect, making the router suitable for environments where laptops, phones, cameras, and other clients share the same network. Auto channel selection, WMM, WPS, multiple SSIDs, hidden SSIDs, and WLAN scheduling help adapt the wireless service to different users, usage patterns, and operating periods without changing the underlying network connection.
Dual WAN Connectivity
The FWA515 combines cellular and wired WAN options to maintain Internet access when one connection becomes unavailable. Its second 2.5GbE Ethernet port can be configured as an Ethernet WAN interface, while automatic failover can move traffic between fixed broadband and 5G. This allows 5G to back up an interrupted wired service, or Ethernet to take over if the cellular connection drops. Two 2.5GbE RJ45 ports also provide multi-gigabit wired connectivity for local equipment, switches, desktop systems, or network storage, avoiding a slower Ethernet link becoming the immediate bottleneck for connected devices. A dedicated switch lets the user select between the internal and external antenna paths.
A Nano SIM slot provides access to mobile networks, and four embedded omnidirectional cellular antennas are supplemented by two TS9 connectors for optional external antennas. The hardware also includes a USB 2.0 Type-A host port for file sharing, a USB-C Power Delivery input, front indicators for power, signal strength, Internet status, and WiFi or WPS, plus separate controls for power and wireless operation. Router and IP passthrough modes support different deployment designs, while static and dynamic routing, NAT/NAPT, DMZ, port forwarding, multiple APNs, DHCP client and server functions, IPv4/IPv6 dual stack, and VPN passthrough provide the core networking tools required to integrate the device into an existing site.
Cloud Network Management
As part of the Zyxel Nebula ecosystem, the FWA515 can be onboarded, monitored, configured, and updated alongside other Nebula devices from a centralized cloud dashboard or mobile application. QR-code setup simplifies initial registration, while remote configuration, live status information, client heartbeat visibility, power tracking, multi-site management, and network alerts reduce the need for direct access to each installation. Local and remote administration are also available through the web interface, with firmware upgrades supported through both Nebula Cloud and the web GUI. Zyxel One for iOS and Android provides an additional option for installation and local management. The router also supports power monitoring and energy-saving functions through its management capabilities.
Built-in security functions include WPA2 and WPA3 wireless encryption, DoS attack detection, an SPI firewall, application-level filtering from LAN to WAN, and filtering based on LAN MAC or IP addresses. VLAN support, guest WiFi, and multiple SSIDs help separate users or services without requiring a single shared wireless network. The device uses a 45 W USB-C PD power adapter. Its enclosure is made from 95% recycled plastic, while the packaging is halogen-free and VOC-free, uses no PE bag, and is designed to minimize waste. The device is intended for indoor operation from -10°C to 40°C and is supplied with the power adapter, and a 1.5 m Ethernet cable.
