Alfa Tube-AHM PoE

The ALFA Network Tube-AHM PoE is an outdoor Wi-Fi HaLow device designed for long-range connectivity in sub-1 GHz networks. Using IEEE 802.11ah technology, it is intended for applications where conventional 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wi-Fi may be less suitable because of distance, obstacles, or power requirements. HaLow provides extended coverage, lower power consumption, and improved signal penetration through walls and other barriers, making the device relevant for rural links, smart agriculture, industrial monitoring, and distributed IoT sensor deployments. Regional versions operate on 915 MHz in the United States, 866 MHz in Europe, 924 MHz in Japan, 922 MHz in Korea, and 920 MHz in Taiwan.

The radio supports channel widths of 1, 2, 4, or 8 MHz and reaches a peak data rate of 15 Mbps. These options allow the wireless connection to be adapted to different deployment requirements while remaining focused on long-range IoT communication rather than high-bandwidth local access. An N-female antenna connector allows an external antenna to be selected according to the required coverage pattern and signal direction. This gives installers flexibility when planning outdoor links and choosing an antenna suited to the site. The resulting arrangement can support remote IP cameras, long-range sensor gateways, smart-city systems, forest or coastline monitoring, and mining applications where wider coverage and obstacle penetration are important.

Tube-AHM PoE combines Fast Ethernet connectivity with standard IEEE 802.3af/at Power over Ethernet. Both network data and electrical power can therefore be delivered through a single cable, reducing the number of separate connections required at the installation point. This is particularly practical when the unit is positioned outdoors or away from a nearby power socket, because the same Ethernet run provides the wired link and the operating power. The Ethernet interface includes ESD protection, adding protection against electrostatic discharge at the wired connection. A reset button is also integrated into the device, providing direct access to the reset function during installation, configuration, or maintenance without requiring additional controls.

The hardware platform uses an MT7628 processor together with a Morse Micro MM6108 HaLow chipset, supported by 128 MB of RAM and 16 MB of Flash storage. The cylindrical unit measures 176 × 38 mm and operates within a temperature range of -20 °C to 60 °C. Its construction is intended to withstand harsh weather, dust, and moisture, supporting use in demanding outdoor environments. These characteristics make the device suitable for factory and industrial IoT monitoring, agricultural networks, remote environmental observation, smart-city infrastructure, and mining applications. The compact form factor, outdoor protection, and PoE connection allow the unit to be placed where the wireless link is needed while keeping installation centred on a single network cable.
