The Hikvision DS-7808NI-I2 is an 8-channel network video recorder for receiving, recording, decoding, playing back, and locally displaying IP video. It accepts up to eight IP camera inputs and provides up to 320 Mbps of incoming bandwidth, giving the recorder the capacity to handle multiple camera streams within its supported channel count. Recording is available in H.265+, H.265, H.264+, H.264, and MPEG4 formats. Resolutions up to 32 MP and 24 MP are supported on channel 1 when Ultra HD resolution mode is enabled, while the recorder also accommodates a broad range of lower recording resolutions for different camera streams.

For monitoring and review, the DS-7808NI-I2 combines multi-resolution decoding with synchronized playback and independent video outputs. Its decoding capacity ranges from one 32 MP stream at 30 fps or two 12 MP streams at 20 fps to four 8 MP streams at 25 fps, eight 4 MP streams at 30 fps, or sixteen 1080p streams at 30 fps. Up to eight channels can be played back synchronously, allowing several recorded camera streams to be reviewed together. HDMI and VGA operate as independent outputs, with HDMI supporting resolutions up to 4K at 60 Hz. Dual-stream recording is also supported, allowing separate streams to be used within the recording workflow according to different recording and viewing requirements.

The DS-7808NI-I2 combines local storage with the network connections required for video recording and access. Two SATA interfaces accommodate two HDDs, with support for up to 10 TB per disk, creating a storage configuration based on two local drives. Network connectivity is handled through a self-adaptive 10/100/1000 Mbps RJ-45 Ethernet interface, while the recorder supports up to 32 remote connections. Its network capabilities include TCP/IP, DHCP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, DDNS, NTP, RTSP, NFS, iSCSI, HTTP, and HTTPS, among other supported protocols, covering the communication and network services used by the recorder within an IP video system.

Physical integration extends beyond the primary network connection. Four alarm inputs and one alarm output provide connection points for external alarm signals within the recording system. Audio output and two-way audio input are available through RCA connections, while a CVBS output adds another video output alongside HDMI and VGA. The front panel includes a USB 2.0 interface, with USB 3.0 available at the rear. By bringing video recording, network access, local storage, alarm connections, audio, and multiple display outputs into the same unit, the DS-7808NI-I2 keeps the principal connections for an 8-channel IP video installation within a single recorder.
