Industrial 5G Gateway
The Teltonika TRB501 is an industrial 5G gateway designed to provide high-speed cellular connectivity for industrial automation, energy and utilities, enterprise networks, retail, and smart city applications. Supporting 5G Sub-6 GHz in both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes, it combines modern mobile network technology with a wired Ethernet connection. The gateway supports 5G carrier aggregation and 4×4 MIMO for downloading data, with download speeds of up to 3.4 Gbps in 5G NSA mode and 2.4 Gbps in SA mode. It also supports 4G LTE Cat 19 and 3G connectivity, allowing operation across different generations of mobile networks.
The TRB501 features a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port that connects the mobile network to wired equipment. Its RJ45 interface supports connection speeds of 10/100/1000/2500 Mbps, making it suitable for devices requiring high-speed Ethernet connectivity. Four SMA connectors accommodate external cellular antennas, while a micro USB port provides a virtual network interface. The gateway also offers bridge and passthrough modes for connecting other network devices to the mobile connection. Bridge mode establishes a direct connection between the mobile service provider and a device on the LAN, while passthrough mode assigns the gateway's mobile WAN IP address to another connected device.
Industrial Network Integration
The TRB501 combines cellular connectivity with networking and industrial communication functions. It supports Modbus TCP, DNP3, DLMS/COSEM, BACnet/IP, and OPC UA, making it suitable for SCADA, smart grid, and telemetry applications. Its Modbus MQTT Gateway enables communication with a Modbus server through an MQTT broker, while the Data to Server function collects parameters from different sources and protocols and forwards them to a single server. Network configuration includes static and dynamic routing, firewall rules, VLAN segmentation, and VPN technologies such as OpenVPN, IPsec, and WireGuard. For remote administration, the gateway supports Teltonika RMS, WebUI, FOTA updates, SNMP, and MQTT.
The gateway operates on a 9–30 V DC power supply through a four-pin industrial connector, with protection against overvoltage, reverse polarity, and voltage surges. Alternatively, it can receive power through the Ethernet port using passive PoE, which is not compatible with IEEE 802.3af/at/bt standards. Two configurable digital inputs/outputs on the power connector allow interaction with external equipment, with event notifications available through email, RMS, and SMS. The anodized aluminium enclosure is rated IP30 and operates at temperatures from −40 °C to +75 °C. Installation options include DIN rail, wall, and flat-surface mounting, each requiring an additional mounting kit.
