Teltonika TRB256 Industrial NB-IoT Gateway

The Teltonika TRB256 is a compact industrial gateway built for mission-critical IoT applications using LTE Cat M1, NB1, and NB2 networks, with EGPRS fallback. It offers efficient data transmission with speeds up to 588 kbps downlink and 1119 kbps uplink on Cat M1, and supports global LTE bands including B1, B3, B5, B8, B20, B28, and the 450 MHz band for wide coverage. Dual SIM functionality with failover ensures uninterrupted service. It includes SMA connectors for LTE and GNSS antennas and supports multiple positioning systems (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS). The device is compact and lightweight, and comes in a durable aluminum housing with an IP30 rating. LED indicators display power, signal strength, and Ethernet activity. Its wide operating temperature range (–40 °C to +75 °C) and support for DIN rail or wall mounting make it ideal for industrial and remote deployments.

Designed for flexibility in industrial environments, the TRB256 offers versatile I/O and serial connectivity through a 16-pin terminal block. It includes 3 digital inputs (0–6 V low, 8–30 V high), 3 open-collector outputs (up to 30 V, 300 mA), and 1 analog input (0–30 V). RS232 and RS485 ports allow integration with legacy equipment and support serial-over-IP, MODBUS, NTRIP, and console access. A single 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port ensures reliable network integration. The device is powered via a 9–30 V DC input with reverse polarity and surge protection (±1 kV/50 µs). It consumes less than 2 W when idle and under 3.5 W at full load, making it energy efficient. The rugged design supports 10–90% relative humidity and ensures stable performance in harsh environments. This robust interface configuration allows seamless integration into energy, automation, agriculture, and remote monitoring systems.

The TRB256 runs on Teltonika’s RutOS, based on OpenWrt, and supports advanced networking protocols including static and dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF, RIP), VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and SNMP. It offers strong VPN support including OpenVPN, IPsec, L2TP, GRE, PPTP, SSTP, WireGuard, and ZeroTier. Network security is reinforced with configurable firewalls, NAT, brute-force protection, web filtering, access control lists, and multiple authentication methods like RADIUS and TACACS+. The device also includes SMS management tools, VoIP passthrough, and MQTT and CoAP protocols for IoT communication. Remote monitoring is enabled via Teltonika’s RMS, TR-069, SSH, HTTPS, and MQTT broker/client functionality. Support for major platforms like Azure IoT Hub, AWS IoT, and Cumulocity makes it ideal for scalable M2M or IoT solutions. With its compact size, secure OS, and versatile management tools, the TRB256 is a powerful solution for industrial automation, telemetry, and smart infrastructure.
