Symmetrical Horn Antenna
The RF elements HG3-CC-S30 is a second-generation Symmetrical Horn Carrier Class antenna designed for wireless networks requiring directional coverage and effective interference suppression. Operating across the 5180–6400 MHz frequency range, it combines 18.4 dBi gain with a symmetrical radiation pattern that maintains identical beamwidth in the horizontal and vertical planes. Its 30° beamwidth at −6 dB provides a defined coverage area, while exceptionally small side lobes help suppress interference outside the main beam. This combination makes the antenna particularly useful in high-density AP clusters and installations where several radios operate in close proximity.
The symmetrical beam pattern is especially valuable when serving clients located relatively close to the antenna installation site. Such deployments can experience null zone issues, and the HG3-CC-S30 is designed to address these coverage challenges through its radiation characteristics. Unlike antennas with different horizontal and vertical beamwidths, its symmetrical design maintains the same angular coverage in both planes. The antenna also features dual linear horizontal and vertical polarization, with two N Female bulkhead connectors for radio connection. Together, these characteristics make the HG3-CC-S30 a practical choice for installations that require controlled directional coverage, interference suppression, and the ability to position multiple access points within the same deployment area.
Mounting and Adjustment
The HG3-CC-S30 incorporates the mechanical improvements introduced with RF elements' second-generation Symmetrical Horn Carrier Class antenna design. Its updated construction features a visually lighter body and a significantly improved mounting bracket, providing a practical foundation for positioning the antenna during installation. The bracket accommodates poles with diameters from 30 to 90 mm, while a mechanical tilt adjustment of ±25° allows the antenna to be angled toward the intended coverage area. This adjustment works alongside the symmetrical radiation pattern, allowing the installer to direct the main beam without changing the antenna's horizontal or vertical beamwidth characteristics.
The antenna is designed for outdoor operating conditions, with an IP55 environmental rating and a UV-resistant polycarbonate component in its construction. Its radome uses a more resistant material than the previous generation, reflecting the improvements made to the antenna's physical design. The HG3-CC-S30 is specified for operation at temperatures from −30 °C to +55 °C and has a wind survival rating of 160 km/h. These characteristics are relevant when selecting installation locations exposed to changing weather conditions. The combination of pole mounting, mechanical tilt adjustment, and outdoor-rated construction enables the HG3-CC-S30 to be installed and oriented according to the required coverage direction while retaining the distinctive RF characteristics of the Symmetrical Horn Carrier Class Gen 2 series.
