Dual-Band Wireless Adapter
The AWUS1900 is an AC1900 dual-band wireless adapter built around the RTL8814U chipset. It supports IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac networking across 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, giving a compatible computer access to networks using any of these supported wireless standards. Users can select either supported band when the local network provides both. Listed data rates reach up to 600 Mbps with 802.11n and 1300 Mbps with 802.11ac. These figures describe supported link capabilities rather than guaranteed application speed, while indicating the adapter’s suitability for data-intensive tasks on compatible networks. Hardware and Placement
Four external detachable antennas form the AWUS1900’s radio hardware, with each supplied antenna rated at 5 dBi. RP-SMA female antenna connections secure them and allow removal when the unit must be packed or transported. The external arrangement leaves the antenna elements accessible during setup, so placement can account for the complete antenna assembly. A USB 3.0 connector links the unit to the host computer, while the included USB 3.0 cable permits placement away from the computer instead of fixing the device directly at a port. This cabled connection gives the user more freedom during installation to choose a convenient location for the adapter around the host system.
Placement accessories include a screen clip adapter and suction cup, providing two supplied methods for securing the unit near a display or on a suitable smooth surface. The enclosure measures 62 x 85.3 x 24 mm and weighs 60 g, keeping it compact for desk-side or portable setups without requiring a large mounting area in the workspace. It operates from −10 °C to 60 °C and is specified for storage humidity from 5% to 98% without condensation, defining the environmental limits to consider when selecting a location.
