The RG-EG209GS is a cloud managed router designed for small business networks that need Gigabit connectivity, flexible WAN planning, and optical fiber support. It includes Gigabit Ethernet ports together with a LAN/WAN switchable SFP port, allowing fiber connectivity to be added where the network design requires it. The router supports up to four WAN connections with intelligent load balancing and link redundancy, helping distribute traffic across available uplinks while maintaining connectivity if one line becomes unavailable. Its 600 Mbps throughput and recommended capacity for 200 concurrent users make it suitable for business environments that need stable routing, centralized internet access, and practical bandwidth planning.

Network access can be configured through PPPoE client, DHCP client, or static IP, with automatic internet type identification and WAN IP conflict avoidance simplifying deployment. The router also supports learning PPPoE account credentials, which can help when replacing existing equipment. Routing functions include static routing, RIP/RIPng, policy-based routing, WAN port failover, source-address load balancing, flow-based load balancing, and port-based weighted load balancing. VLAN support, IPv6, IPTV, AC mode, PPPoE server, DHCP server, DNS services, NTP client, DDNS, NAT, NAPT, NAT ALG, port mapping, and UPnP provide a broad feature set for structured business gateway deployments.

The RG-EG209GS combines cloud-based management with traffic control and security functions for business networks. Application recognition can identify more than 100 application types, including office tools, instant messaging, web pages, online shopping, online gaming, P2P downloads, and popular video services. This enables application-based control and priority handling, while behavior management supports app blocking through time- and IP-based policies, website filtering, and application priority. Smart flow control, custom flow control policies, IP-based automatic bandwidth assignment, and real-time traffic audit help administrators understand usage and manage available bandwidth according to users, applications, and operational needs.

Remote and secure access functions extend the router beyond basic gateway operation. VPN support includes L2TP, PPTP, IPsec, and OpenVPN, with defined tunnel capacities for remote connectivity scenarios. Authentication options include WiFiDog with SMS and one-click authentication, along with portal, password, and QR code authentication for local access control. Ruijie Cloud adds centralized network management, cloud portal authentication, scenario-based configuration, remote monitoring and maintenance, app management, scheduled restart, local and online upgrades, backup, and factory reset. The router can manage Reyee switches and access points, helping administrators maintain gateway, switching, and wireless infrastructure from one cloud-based environment.
