Single-Mode SFP Module
The MikroTik HS-31DLC20D is an industrial-grade SFP module for single-mode fiber links over distances of up to 20 km. It is designed for long-distance network connections where optical fiber is used to extend Ethernet connectivity between devices, buildings, infrastructure nodes, or network segments. The module supports both 1G and 2.5G data rates, making it suitable not only for standard Gigabit links but also for installations where additional bandwidth is required without replacing the existing fiber path. Its SFP format allows it to be used in compatible SFP ports, while the Duplex LC connector provides full-duplex operation through a standard LC fiber connection.
This makes the module suitable for backbone links, campus networks, industrial deployments, and ISP infrastructure where a stable single-mode fiber connection is required. The single-mode design is intended for longer reach compared with short-range multimode connections, which makes the HS-31DLC20D useful in installations where network endpoints are separated by larger physical distances. The module is positioned as an upgrade option from the S-31DLC20D, adding 2.5G support while preserving compatibility with existing single-mode fiber installations. This helps increase available link capacity while keeping the physical fiber infrastructure unchanged.
Digital Diagnostics
The HS-31DLC20D includes built-in digital diagnostics monitoring, allowing key operating parameters to be observed during use. These diagnostics include optical power, voltage, temperature, laser bias current, and other important module conditions. This monitoring capability helps identify abnormal operation and makes it easier to detect when configured operating limits are exceeded. For network administrators, this provides useful visibility into the optical link instead of relying only on link-up or link-down status. Access to diagnostic information can support more informed maintenance planning. By checking real operating values, teams can better understand whether a link is operating within expected limits and decide when inspection, replacement, or upgrades may be required.
This is especially useful in backbone, industrial, and service provider environments, where fiber links are often part of critical network paths. The module's optical characteristics include transmitter output power from -5 to 0 dBm and receiver sensitivity down to -20 dBm. These parameters define the operating optical signal range for reliable data transmission over supported single-mode fiber links. Combined with DDM support, they help simplify monitoring and maintenance of long-distance fiber connections.
