Ubiquiti Vape Detection & Air Quality Sensor

The Ubiquiti UP-AirQuality is an indoor air quality sensor for UniFi Protect environments, designed to monitor key environmental conditions from a compact, network-connected device. It measures temperature and humidity while also tracking a broad set of air quality indicators, including CO2, PM1, PM2.5, PM4, PM10, VOC, AQI, and vape detection. This makes it suitable for spaces where air conditions need to be observed continuously, such as offices, shared indoor areas, service spaces, and other monitored rooms within a UniFi Protect deployment. The sensor uses a 1 Hz sampling rate, allowing it to update readings regularly and provide timely information about changes in the surrounding environment.

Its measurement ranges cover common indoor monitoring needs, including temperature from 0 to 40 °C, humidity from 0 to 90% RH, CO2 up to 40,000 ppm, particulate matter up to 1000 μg/m³, VOC index from 1 to 500, and vape index from 0 to 100. These values help represent different aspects of air quality, from general comfort conditions to airborne particles and specific detected indicators. The device works with UniFi Protect and requires UniFi Protect web application version 7.1 or later. Mobile access is supported through UniFi Protect iOS version 3.6.0 or later and Android version 3.5.0 or later.

The UP-AirQuality connects through Ethernet using a 10/100 MbE RJ45 port and is powered by PoE, allowing data and power to be delivered over a single network cable. With a supported voltage range of 37 to 57V and maximum power consumption of 2.2W, the sensor can be integrated into a PoE-based network without a separate local power adapter. This supports cleaner installation in indoor locations where continuous sensor operation and network connectivity are required. The compact housing measures Ø93 × 40.5 mm and weighs 190 g, making it easy to place without drawing unnecessary attention.

The device supports wall, ceiling, and table mounting, giving installers flexibility to position it according to room layout and monitoring requirements. Its enclosure is made from polycarbonate, while the mount uses aluminum alloy and stainless steel for secure installation. The sensor includes two LED indicators: one status LED in white and blue, and one air quality indicator using red, green, yellow, and violet. These indicators provide a direct visual reference at the installation point without needing to check the application immediately. The device is intended for indoor use only and is designed for recommended ambient operating temperatures from 10 to 35 °C, with 10 to 90% noncondensing humidity. It is NDAA compliant and carries CE, FCC, and IC certifications.
