Detailed description

Accurate Time from GNSS

The Teltonika NTP001 is a Stratum-1 NTP server designed to provide precise, UTC-traceable time inside private and public networks without dependence on internet time sources. An integrated GNSS receiver supports GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS to obtain reference time; the device typically achieves Ethernet NTP accuracy of ±1 ms and can handle more than 300 NTP requests per second at wire speed. The device quickly locks onto GPS signals in under 120 seconds from a cold start. Its high GNSS sensitivity (down to −146 dBm) and precise positioning accuracy of about 2.5 m CEP-50 in open areas ensure reliable time synchronization, even in locations with weak satellite reception. The NTP001 can broadcast time via NTP over Ethernet or distribute timestamps over serial links (RS-232/RS-485), enabling synchronized logging, event correlation and regulatory-grade timestamps for telecom, industrial automation, energy and transport systems.

Industrial Design

The NTP001 combines a compact industrial form factor with a broad set of physical interfaces for flexible integration. It provides one 10/100 Mbps Ethernet port (auto MDI/MDIX), RS-232 and RS-485 serial interfaces via a 16-pin terminal block, one analog input and three configurable digital I/Os for alarms and control. A dedicated SMA connector supports an external GNSS antenna; status LEDs show power, GNSS, NTP server and I/O activity, and a reset button enables recovery to user or factory defaults. The anodized aluminium enclosure has IP30 ingress rating and supports DIN-rail, wall and flat-surface mounting (mounting kits sold separately). Power is supplied via a 2-pin terminal (9–30 V DC) with overvoltage, reverse-polarity and surge protection; idle consumption is ~2 W (max 3.5 W).

Secure Management

Running RutOS (OpenWrt-based), the NTP001 offers extensive protocol support and management options for secure, scalable deployment. Supported network protocols include TCP/UDP, IPv4/IPv6, ICMP, NTPv4 (with MD5/SHA1 authentication), DNS, HTTP/HTTPS with SSL/TLS, ARP, SSH, DHCP, SNMP and MQTT; Modbus RTU/TCP and Modbus-MQTT gateway features enable SCADA and IoT integration. Administrators can manage the device via Web UI (HTTP/HTTPS), SSH, SNMP (v1/v2/v3) or JSON-RPC API, perform firmware updates and keep configuration backups; an SDK is available for custom firmware builds. Hardware includes a Mediatek CPU (580 MHz) and 128 MB RAM, with event/system logs and factory reset options for reliable remote operation. Access control and security features including pre-shared keys, X.509 certificates, TACACS+, RADIUS, 802.1x client, web filtering and brute-force protection, make the NTP001 suitable for critical telco and industrial networks.
