The MikroTik wAP LR2 Kit is a comprehensive and innovative outdoor wireless access point designed to seamlessly integrate both Wi-Fi and LoRa® technology. With a data rate of up to 300 Mbit/s, adhering to the 802.11b/g/n standards, and featuring a dual-chain setup with an antenna gain of 2 dBi for WLAN and 4.7 dBi for LoRa®. The QCA9531 wireless chip ensures efficient and stable Wi-Fi 4 connectivity. For wired devices, there is one 10/100 Ethernet port, making it versatile for connecting a broad range of devices.
It's an ideal choice for industrial IoT applications, providing enhanced data rates, reliable performance in challenging environments, and a suite of features that ensure ease of use and installation. Advanced Hardware with Dual Technology Integration

Built on a reliable MIPSBE architecture, the wAP LR2 Kit operates on a QCA9531 CPU at 650 MHz and is equipped with 64 MB of RAM and 16 MB of FLASH storage. It supports RouterOS with a license level 4, ensuring robust and versatile network management capabilities. This kit introduces a unique dual-technology approach by supporting the 2.4 GHz frequency not only for WLAN but also for LoRa® communications, offering significantly higher bandwidth and data rates compared to traditional LoRa® setups. Furthermore, featuring one MiniPCI-e slot and a Mini SIM slot, the wAP LR2 Kit offers the possibility to expand its functionality with additional network interfaces or cellular connectivity options. This makes it an adaptable solution for a wide array of network configurations and user needs.
While the wAP LR2 Kit is primarily designed for LoRa® and Wi-Fi operations, it does offer the flexibility to replace the LoRa® interface card with an LTE modem via its MiniPCI-e slot, though it should be noted that this would disable the built-in SIM slot's functionality for LTE use.

LoRa® and WLAN Functionality

The wAP LR2 Kit includes a pre-installed UDP packet forwarder that can connect to any public or private LoRa® servers, making it a plug-and-play solution for rapid IoT deployment. Unlike typical LoRa® devices, this kit utilizes the 2.4 GHz frequency for LoRa®, enhancing the data throughput and reducing air time. Thanks to Chirp modulation technology, it operates without interfering with the 2.4 GHz WLAN signals. This feature makes the wAP LR2 Kit a perfect solution for environments with a plethora of connected devices and sensors. In addition, the device is equipped with a PCB temperature monitor and a voltage monitor to safeguard against electrical anomalies and ensure long-term reliability.

Flexible Antenna Options

The kit has built-in antennas that provide 2 dBi gain for WLAN and a higher 4.7 dBi gain for LoRa®. For scenarios requiring expanded coverage, there is the option to connect an external antenna, such as the TOF-2400-8V-4 Omni 8dBi antenna, to enhance signal range and quality up to 3-4km. It comes with a 1m long SMA cable and a mechanical holder for quick and easy mast attachment

Robust Design and Enhanced Connectivity

The device is housed in the classic wAP form-factor known for its excellent stability and performance in various weather conditions, from extreme cold to intense heat, as demonstrated by its operational temperature range of -40°C to 60°C and an IP54 rating. It includes one 10/100 Ethernet port with Passive PoE input, facilitating easy integration into existing network infrastructures.

Powering and Compliance

The wAP LR2 Kit offers multiple powering options including a DC jack, automotive input, and Passive PoE, all supporting an input voltage range of 9-30 V. It boasts low energy consumption with a maximum power draw of only 8W, facilitated by efficient passive cooling to maintain optimal performance without the need for active cooling systems. This flexibility ensures the device can be deployed in a variety of settings without concerns about power source compatibility.
