Multi-Mode SFP Module
The MikroTik HS-85DLC05D is an industrial-grade SFP module designed for multi-mode fiber links over distances of up to 550 m. It is intended for network environments where fiber is used to connect switches, routers, infrastructure equipment, or other compatible devices across shorter building, campus, or facility-level runs. The module supports both 1G and 2.5G data rates, making it suitable for standard Gigabit links as well as networks that need additional bandwidth without changing the existing fiber cabling. The module uses the SFP format and is designed for compatible SFP ports.
Its Duplex LC connector supports full-duplex fiber connectivity through a widely used LC interface, helping simplify integration into existing optical network installations. The HS-85DLC05D operates over multi-mode fiber and uses an 850 nm wavelength, which is commonly associated with short-range optical links in enterprise and infrastructure environments. This model is positioned as an upgrade from the S-85DLC05D, retaining the essential functionality of the earlier module while adding 2.5G support. This makes it a practical option for enterprise networks, industrial deployments, and ISP infrastructure where the goal is to increase available link capacity while preserving the current fiber installation.
Digital Diagnostics
The HS-85DLC05D includes built-in digital diagnostics monitoring, allowing key operating parameters of the optical module to be checked during operation. The monitored values include optical power, voltage, temperature, laser bias current, and other important module conditions. This gives network administrators more insight into the state of the optical link than a simple link status indicator, helping them identify abnormal operation or situations where configured operating limits have been exceeded. Digital diagnostics can also support maintenance planning. By reviewing real operating data, technical teams can better understand whether the link is running within expected conditions and decide when maintenance, replacement, or future upgrades may be necessary.
This is especially useful in networks where fiber connections are part of important infrastructure and unexpected downtime should be avoided. The optical characteristics of the module include transmitter output power from -9 to -3 dBm and receiver sensitivity down to -18 dBm. These values describe the signal levels the module is designed to send and receive within its supported optical range. Combined with DDM support, they provide practical visibility for maintaining stable multi-mode fiber links in enterprise, industrial, and service provider environments.
