Unmanaged 2.5G Ethernet Switch
The AGS05-2.5GL is a five-port unmanaged 2.5 Gbps Ethernet switch designed for plug-and-play multi-gigabit networking in SMB and home environments. Each RJ45 port supports 10/100/1000/2500 Mbps operation, allowing compatible devices to use 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet without replacing existing Cat5e or better cabling. This makes the switch suitable for upgrading network bandwidth from 1 Gbps to 2.5 Gbps while retaining the installed cabling infrastructure already in place. Auto-negotiation allows connected equipment to operate at the supported link speed available on each port, so different Ethernet speeds can coexist on the same switch without manual port configuration.
The switching architecture provides 25 Gbps of non-blocking capacity, supporting simultaneous traffic across the five multi-gigabit ports without the switch fabric becoming the stated limiting point. IEEE 802.3x flow control is supported to help regulate traffic when connected devices or links cannot accept data at the same rate. The switch also supports jumbo frames up to 12 KB, a 16 K MAC address table, and 12 Mb of packet buffer memory, providing resources for forwarding and buffering Ethernet traffic. Support for IEEE 802.3ab, IEEE 802.3az, IEEE 802.3bz (NBASE-T), and IEEE 802.3u places these functions within the Ethernet standards specified for the switch and its supported wired connection modes across connected devices using compatible link speeds.
Hardware and Operation
The AGS05-2.5GL uses a fanless metal enclosure, allowing the switch to operate without an internal cooling fan while providing the physical protection of a metal case. Loop detection is built in and has a dedicated amber indicator, giving users a visible indication when this condition is detected. A separate white power indicator shows device power status, while every Ethernet port has its own link and activity LEDs. Green indicators identify 2.5 GbE links and activity, and amber indicators are used for 10/100/1000 Mbps links and activity, making the current connection state and port use easier to check directly on the device.
Power is supplied through a 5.5/2.1 mm DC jack with a 12 V DC input, keeping the power connection separate from the five network ports. The switch is specified for operation at temperatures from 0° C to 50° C and at 10 % to 90 % relative humidity without condensation, defining the environmental conditions for intended use. Its enclosure measures 165 × 130 × 27 mm, providing a compact footprint for placement where a five-port multi-gigabit switch is required. Together with the fanless construction, status indicators, loop detection, and straightforward DC power input, these hardware characteristics support simple installation and day-to-day monitoring without adding management configuration requirements to the unmanaged design.
