Hikvision DS-7608NI-M2 8-Channel 8K NVR with H.265+ Compression

The Hikvision DS-7608NI-M2 is an 8-channel M Series network video recorder designed for IP video recording, decoding, playback, and local display. It accepts up to eight IP camera inputs, including cameras with resolutions up to 32 MP, with incoming bandwidth of up to 128 Mbps. Support for H.265+, H.265, H.264+, and H.264 gives the recorder multiple compression options for connected cameras, while H.265+ can reduce storage space by up to 75%. Dual-stream recording further helps separate recording and viewing requirements, allowing the system to handle video more efficiently without changing the main recording workflow.

For live monitoring and review, the recorder combines high-resolution decoding with flexible display output. It can decode up to 10 channels at 8 MP, while eight channels can be played back synchronously for reviewing multiple camera streams at the same time. Decoding capacity scales across different stream resolutions, combining fewer high-resolution streams or more simultaneous lower-resolution streams. HDMI and VGA operate as independent outputs, and HDMI supports resolutions up to 8K, giving the recorder a direct path to high-resolution local display. Stream over TLS encryption is available for more secure stream transmission, and double verification can be enabled for playback and downloading. Together, these functions position the DS-7608NI-M2 as a central recording and viewing platform for multi-camera IP surveillance systems.

Local storage and network access are built around continuous video management. Two SATA interfaces allow the installation of two HDDs, with support for up to 16 TB per drive, giving the recorder substantial local capacity for recorded footage. Two self-adaptive 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet interfaces provide network connectivity, while Hik-Connect and DDNS support remote network management. Web access is available without a plug-in, and smooth streaming technology is supported for network viewing. The recorder can also connect to a solar-powered camera through the OTAP protocol: the NVR requests the stream when needed, while the camera sends recorded video back according to its schedule.

The DS-7608NI-M2 also brings camera analytics and transaction-related functions into the recording environment. It supports multiple VCA events and configurable smart functions including motion detection, line crossing detection, intrusion detection, heat maps, ANPR, and people counting. POS information can be overlaid on live view and playback, while POS events can trigger recording and alarms, linking transaction data with the associated video. Alarm inputs and outputs extend event integration, while audio in and out, HDMI, VGA, CVBS, USB, and dual LAN interfaces provide the physical connections required around the recorder. These functions give the system a broad integration scope without separating recording, analytics, monitoring, and event handling into isolated workflows.
