Global LTE Router
The Teltonika RUTM16 is a high-performance LTE router designed for global deployments where reliable and fast connectivity is essential. Powered by a Telit LTE Cat 6 modem, it delivers mobile data speeds of up to 300 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink, ensuring efficient data transmission for demanding applications. With support for 3G fallback and wide band compatibility, the router maintains stable connectivity across diverse geographic regions and network conditions. The device supports dual SIM cards alongside an integrated eSIM, enabling advanced connectivity management. Automatic switching between SIM profiles can be triggered by conditions such as weak signal, roaming, or data limits, ensuring uninterrupted service. The eSIM functionality allows remote provisioning and management of up to seven profiles, reducing the need for physical maintenance and simplifying large-scale deployments.
RUTM16 also provides extensive mobile monitoring capabilities, including signal strength metrics (RSSI, RSRP, SINR), connection status, network type, and data usage statistics. Additional features such as band locking, multiple PDN support, and operator allow/block lists give users full control over network behavior. SMS and USSD functionalities further enhance remote management, enabling automation scenarios such as alerts, remote commands, and data exchange between systems. These capabilities make the RUTM16 particularly suitable for applications requiring constant connectivity, including transport systems, industrial automation, smart city infrastructure, and retail operations.
Advanced Networking
The RUTM16 delivers advanced networking capabilities suitable for complex industrial and enterprise environments. It supports both static and dynamic routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF v2, RIP, EIGRP, and NHRP, enabling seamless integration into sophisticated network architectures. Policy-based routing allows precise traffic management across multiple connections. The router operates on dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac Wave 2) with speeds up to 867 Mbps, supporting both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. It can handle up to 150 simultaneous wireless connections, making it ideal for high-density environments. Advanced wireless technologies such as Mesh (802.11s), Fast Roaming (802.11r), and radio resource management (802.11k/v) ensure stable performance across dynamic networks.
Network segmentation is supported through up to 128 VLANs (port- and tag-based), allowing efficient separation of traffic across departments or services. QoS and Smart Queue Management provide traffic prioritization based on application, protocol, or destination, ensuring optimal performance for critical services. Security features include a configurable firewall with NAT, DMZ, and traffic rules, as well as DDoS protection and port scan prevention. Authentication options include WPA3, X.509 certificates, TACACS+, and RADIUS. The router supports a wide range of VPN technologies such as OpenVPN, IPsec, WireGuard, ZeroTier, and GRE tunnels, enabling secure remote access and encrypted communication. Additional features such as hotspot functionality with captive portal, DNS over HTTPS, and load balancing further enhance network flexibility and security.
Hardware & Management
The RUTM16 is powered by a MediaTek dual-core CPU running at 880 MHz, combined with 256 MB DDR3 RAM and dual flash storage (16 MB NOR and 256 MB NAND), ensuring stable performance for multitasking and data-intensive applications. It runs on RutOS, an OpenWrt-based operating system that supports customization through languages such as Lua, C, C++, Python, and Java. For connectivity, the router features 5 × Gigabit Ethernet ports (1 WAN and 4 LAN), a USB 2.0 interface for external devices, and digital input/output support for industrial control scenarios. It also includes GNSS support (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, QZSS) for accurate positioning and tracking applications.
Power is supplied via a 4-pin industrial connector (9–50 VDC) with surge and reverse polarity protection, as well as passive PoE via LAN1. Power consumption remains efficient, with less than 5 W idle and under 18 W at maximum load. Remote management is enabled via RMS (Teltonika Remote Management System), along with TR-069, SNMP, MQTT, and JSON-RPC support. The WebUI provides full system visibility, including logs, diagnostics, and firmware updates (FOTA). The router is housed in an anodized aluminium enclosure with IP30 protection and operates in temperatures from -40 °C to +75 °C, making it suitable for harsh environments. Multiple mounting options ensure flexible deployment across industrial applications.
