Outdoor LTE Device
The MikroTik SXTsq Embedded LTE4 Global is an outdoor LTE device designed for practical connectivity in rural homes, cabins, construction sites, and other remote locations where traditional broadband may not reach. It combines cellular connectivity with an integrated directional antenna, allowing the unit to be mounted outdoors and aimed toward a nearby cellular tower. The antenna provides 9 dBi gain and supports 2×2 MIMO on the downlink, helping improve signal quality and connection stability in environments where cellular coverage can be more challenging. By placing the radio and antenna together in the outdoor unit, the device provides a direct cellular connection at the installation point while handing network access to connected equipment over Ethernet.
A single Gigabit Ethernet port provides the wired network connection, while PoE-In allows both power and data to be delivered through the Ethernet cabling with an input range of 12–28 V. The device uses a 32-bit ARM Cortex-A7 processor operating at up to 1.2 GHz with 256 MB of RAM and 256 MB of NAND storage. This hardware supports the unit as a complete outdoor network device rather than simply a cellular modem. Its IP67-rated enclosure is intended for outdoor use, and the operating temperature range of −40 °C to +70 °C supports deployment across demanding seasonal conditions. Maximum power consumption is 5 W, which helps keep power requirements modest for remote installations.
SIM and Network Control
Connectivity can be provisioned through either the built-in eSIM or the Nano SIM slot, giving the SXTsq Embedded LTE4 Global two ways to work with mobile service. The eSIM supports MikroTik Connectivity pre-activated data plans, third-party mobile operator eSIM profiles, and multiple profiles that can be added, switched, or stored. This allows a data plan to be activated remotely without handling a physical SIM card, which is particularly useful for remote deployments, backup connections, and distributed installations. When a conventional operator SIM is preferred or required, the Nano SIM slot provides an alternative without changing the device platform.
RouterOS v7 extends the unit beyond straightforward LTE access with MikroTik’s networking functions for advanced routing, firewall and VPN support, remote management, traffic control and monitoring, plus automation and scripting. These capabilities allow the same outdoor cellular connection to serve both simple internet access and more complex network configurations, depending on deployment requirements. The EG25-G modem operates as LTE Category 4, with specified rates of up to 150 Mbps downlink and 50 Mbps uplink, and also supports 3G and 2G operation. Compared with the EMEA version, this Global model adds expanded LTE band support for North America and global deployments, making it suitable for international projects and multi-region installations.
