WiFi 6 USB Adapter
The Alfa AWUS036AXML is a WiFi 6 wireless USB adapter built around the MediaTek MT7921AUN chipset. It combines IEEE 802.11ax 2x2 WiFi with Bluetooth 5.2 in a single device, giving a computer access to both dual-band wireless networking and Bluetooth connectivity. Support for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands allows the adapter to work across different wireless environments, while compatibility with IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards helps it connect to networks using several WiFi generations. This makes the adapter suitable for upgrading a Windows or Linux computer without replacing its existing internal networking hardware. It provides an external upgrade path for supported computer systems.
Wireless performance reaches a combined rate of up to 1800 Mbps, with 802.11ax data rates listed at up to 573.5 Mbps and up to 1201 Mbps. These two rates correspond to the adapter’s dual-band operation and provide the capacity needed for high-speed wireless communication where a compatible network is available. Earlier WiFi modes are also supported, including up to 300 Mbps with 802.11n and up to 866.7 Mbps with 802.11ac, so the adapter can operate with both current and previous-generation access points. By combining 2x2 WiFi 6 operation with Bluetooth 5.2, the AWUS036AXML adds two wireless functions through one external adapter while maintaining broad standards compatibility.
Flexible Desktop Deployment
The AWUS036AXML connects through a robust USB Type-C interface and includes a 2-in-1 USB-C/USB-A cable for both power and data. This cable allows the adapter to be used with computers that have a USB-C port as well as systems that provide only USB-A, reducing the need for a separate converter. A screen clip is also included, giving users a practical way to position the adapter on a monitor instead of leaving it loose on a desk. The housing measures 85 × 63 × 20 mm, so the device remains compact enough for desktop, laptop, and temporary workstation use.
For WiFi reception, the adapter provides two RP-SMA Female connectors and detachable external antennas. The connectors allow the supplied antennas to be replaced with higher-gain models when a longer connection distance is required, giving users flexibility to adapt the antenna setup to the installation. Bluetooth communication is handled by two internal antennas, keeping that function integrated within the enclosure. The adapter operates from 5 V and is specified for temperatures from -25 °C to 75 °C, supporting use across a wide range of operating conditions. Compatibility with Windows and Linux further broadens deployment options, while the external WiFi antenna arrangement makes placement and antenna selection easier to adjust to the surrounding environment.
